Areas of the South-West affected by restructuring of the forest industry will receive extra counselling support, Family and Children’s Services Minister Rhonda Parker announced today.
The Minister said an extra counsellor and a part-time position had been assigned to the department’s Manjimup office for an initial six-month period.
“The counsellor will help individuals and families by providing practical help, personal and financial counselling and continuing community education,” Mrs Parker said.
“Services will also be provided throughout the region in Pemberton, Bridgetown, Greenbushes and Nannup.
“This service, at an estimated cost of $55,000 for the six months, is in addition to the existing services provided by Family and Children’s Services which include family and individual support, financial assistance, crisis intervention and coordination with other agencies and services.”
