The Minister Responsible for WA Drug Abuse Strategy, Rhonda Parker, said there was insufficient medical evidence to justify the use of cannabis as a medical agent at this time.
“Reviews of the evidence indicate that effective alternative treatments are already available for many of the disorders that it’s been suggested cannabis could treat,” Mrs Parker said.
“There is also evidence that introduction of cannabis for the treatment of some medical conditions in the US has led to abuse of the drug.”
