Transport Minister Eric Charlton today announced the introduction of a trial bus service to Wundowie from Monday, July 20.

"This six-month trial service is in response to local demand, but its future will depend on adequate patronage," Mr Charlton said.

"A lot of hard work has been put in by the Member for Avon Max Trenorden and other people in the area to establish this service and it is now up to people living in the Wundowie district to support it.

"The new service will operate on weekdays, providing Wundowie residents with a peak service to Midland and an off-peak ‘shopper service' to Mundaring.

"This will be achieved by extending the existing Transperth routes 328 and 330."

Mr Charlton said the introduction of the new service demonstrated the State Government's commitment to continually review bus routes to meet community needs and demand.

"The Government's aim is to ensure people have a responsive, flexible and innovative public service and to extend the reach of the system in outer metropolitan areas where the need can be demonstrated," he said.

Full details of the additional services are available by ringing the Transperth Infoline on 13 22 13 (TTY 9485 0485) or on the Internet: www.transperth.wa.gov.au
