Transport Minister Eric Charlton today awarded a Main Roads contract for $1,925,000 to Brierty Contractors to reconstruct and widen Great Northern Highway from the RAAF Base entrance at Bullsbrook to Rutland Road.
Funding for this project is from the budget allocation for Western Australia's National Highways.
The project will involve the reconstruction, overlay and widening of a 2.7km section of the highway.
Mr Charlton said motorists in the region would benefit by improved safety through a minor realignment and widening at intersections to allow overtaking of turning vehicles.
The work would begin in February and be completed by May this year.
