Bluegate Nominees has been granted a six-month extension on its lease over the old Swan Brewery site.
Works Minister Kevin Minson said today the Government had agreed to extend the lease after the company requested variations on its original lease.
"Under the lease arrangement, the Government has an obligation to examine any proposal for change put forward," Mr Minson said.
"Bluegate Nominees gave a number of grounds for varying the lease, all of which were closely scrutinised.
"While the Government did not agree to the variations, it was decided to give the company an additional six months to complete their obligations under the lease."
The former deadline to finish the project was December 15, 1996.
It is now June 15, 1997.
