Mines Minister George Cash will leave today for a three-week official visit to South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Mr Cash will be meeting with Government ministers and officials, and senior mining industry representatives to discuss and promote Western Australia's internationally recognised Mining Act, and recently proclaimed Mines Safety and Inspection Act.
He said the Southern African mining industry was also keen to discuss the WA Department of Minerals and Energy’s tenement registration systems including the computerised tenement management system Tengraph.
The visit would include addressing the Zimbabwe-Australian Business Council and to attend the opening of the South African Parliament.
Mr Cash said it was an opportunity to foster better relations and assess one of WA's major international mining competitors.
