Lands Minister George Cash has asked the Department of Land Administration to review the valuation on Kevin O’Dwyer’s lease with the Valuer General.
Mr Cash said he was concerned about the rental increase on the property, which had been adjusted following a valuation by the Valuer General.
The rental was directly related to the value of the property and the Minister sought confirmation that all relevant information had been considered by the Valuer General in determining the valuation.
“It is a marked rental increase and I believe there were just grounds for DOLA to seek an urgent review of the valuation,” Mr Cash said.
“The information from DOLA is that the initial valuation by the Valuer General may have incorrectly included the property being serviced by water and constructed roads.”
Mr Cash said accusations by Eyre MLA Julian Grill towards DOLA were baseless.
“DOLA has long been supportive of Mr O’Dwyer’s occupancy on the lease and this has been quite evident with the reduced rent while he established the property,” he said.
