Western Australia’s thriving economy continues to drive an expanding workforce.
Figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics put the number of people in work in WA at the end of June at a record 1,135,100, more than any other time in the State’s history.
It is 29,300 more than the end of the previous financial year when 1,105,800 people were in work.
Employment Protection Minister Jon Ford said the growth in the workforce was a testament to the ongoing strength of the State’s economy.
Today figures put June’s unemployment rate in WA at 3.2 per cent, down from May’s figure of 3.7 per cent, and still the lowest jobless rate of any State.
