The State Government is facilitating new housing choices for the Derby community, with a package of 10 lots being offered to builders for house and land packages.

Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said LandCorp was giving builders the opportunity to purchase multiple lots in the town’s Bloodwood Crescent estate.

“With the local community in need of more house and land options, we will be calling for design tenders on 10 lots,” Ms MacTiernan said.

“By offering multiple lots as one package, we are hoping to attract new builders to the town.

“The successful builder will be assessed on their ability to provide a range of housing options, likely house sale prices and methods, construction speed and environmental performance.”

The design tender opened this week and closes at 12pm on Friday, August 22, 2008.

The 4.79ha estate is bordered by Bloodwood Crescent, Ashley and Rowan Streets and is made up of 45 fully serviced lots. Of the 45 lots, 23 have already been sold to the local community and the Department of Housing and Works.

Eight single residential lots were also released for sale via private treaty yesterday.  The lots ranged in size from 650 to 904sqm and were priced from $135,000.
