New alternative quick-build home options revealed to homebuyer market

An innovative new home was built within 14 days, as part of an exciting State Government demonstration housing development which is rapidly taking shape near Armadale.

Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the quick-build steel panel home was built by 2020 Construction Systems, on Revolution Road at Seville Grove.

It is among a range of houses built with alternative design and construction techniques, which will be showcased at Revolution Road, due to open to the public in coming months.

Seven builders are constructing 10 display homes using new materials to deliver accelerated completion times for new homes, which feature enhanced energy and climate performance.

Ms MacTiernan said the State Government was taking creative action to address housing supply and access to the new homes market and Revolution Road would showcase the possibilities for new home buyers.

“This range of new building options is good news for buyers wanting to break into the new homes market,” she said.

“Markedly reduced construction times will cut home building costs significantly, as owners will need to hold on to a second property, or pay rent, for a much shorter period.

“Innovations including panel and modular systems that are easy and quick to transport and build can also be applied to regional Western Australia to help address current housing supply issues in remote areas.

“This ambitious project will show homebuyers how attractive, modern and sustainable new homes can be built without sacrificing quality of design and construction.

“Revolution Road will be an excellent opportunity for the public to directly compare innovative alternative materials and methods, such as quick-build panel systems and materials like aerated concrete, steel or lightweight composites, with the new generation of energy-efficient brick and tile houses which will also be on display.

“Many of the systems can also be used for home renovators seeking quicker, easy-to-build, energy-efficient options.”

Located at the corner of Lake Road and Champion Drive in the City of Armadale, the 11ha LandCorp estate at Seville Grove will provide 100 residential lots including two group housing sites and house and land packages.
