Culture and Arts Minister Sheila McHale today announced the appointment of Alan Ferris as the new general manager of the Perth Theatre Trust (PTT).
Ms McHale said Mr Ferris had strong leadership and business skills, with extensive public sector management experience, including 12 years in the culture and arts portfolio.
“Mr Ferris’ experience will be invaluable in ensuring that Western Australia’s key performing arts venues continue to deliver world-class productions to the people of Western Australia,” the Minister said.
PTT chairman Dr Saliba Sassine said this was a period of great opportunity for the trust, and Mr Ferris would be instrumental in driving the business forward.
“Mr Ferris is currently leading the operational development of the new performing arts venue and the upgrade of the BOCS ticketing system,” Dr Sassine said.
“The PTT is also implementing the initiatives funded by the State Government’s Ignite package, including upgrades to the seating and audio visual system at the Perth Concert Hall, replacing the audio visual system and carpets at His Majesty’s Theatre and the extra $600,000 to invest in performances.”
Mr Ferris was previously chief financial officer at the Department of Culture and the Arts.
Mr Ferris is also the Mayor of the Town of East Fremantle. He is a graduate of the LeadershipWA course and has completed the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) programme.
The PTT is responsible for the management of Perth’s premier performing arts venues, His Majesty’s Theatre, Perth Concert Hall, the Playhouse Theatre, Subiaco Arts Centre and Rechabites Hall, and for the management of BOCS Ticketing and Marketing.
