Culture and the Arts Minister Sheila McHale today announced the appointment of Allanah Lucas as the new Director General of the Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA).
Ms McHale said Ms Lucas had a wealth of experience in developing funding and operational policies for Government, arts companies, education institutions, and community and arts venues.
As a previous executive director within the department, Allanah has been a major contributor to culture and arts capital works planning and projects, including the development of the new performing arts venue in Perth.
“This is an exciting time for culture and arts in Western Australia with the construction of the new performing arts venue, the planning for the new museum and the new programs established through the State Government’s $73million Ignite package,” Ms McHale said.
“I look forward to working with Ms Lucas to continue to build the role of the culture and arts portfolio in the State.”
Ms Lucas has worked in the arts and cultural sectors for over 25 years as an administrator, producer, practitioner, researcher, consultant and tutor.
She has held a number of senior positions within the arts and culture portfolio including Director of ArtsWA, Acting Director of the WA Museum and Executive Director of Development and Strategy at DCA.
