Builder Celebration Homes has won the ‘Most Affordable Family Housing’ Award at the Master Builders Association - BankWest Metropolitan Housing Excellence Awards.

Housing and Works Minister Michelle Roberts announced the winner at the gala awards dinner at the Perth Convention Centre last night.

“Celebration Homes is a wonderful example of private business responding to the needs of Western Australian home buyers by producing cost-effective family home options,” Mrs Roberts said.

The Minister said helping Western Australians buy their own homes was one of the State Government’s top priorities.

“The State Government’s $900million FirstStart shared equity scheme aims to help 3,000 Western Australians buy their first home in the next three years,” she said.

“Since the launch of the shared equity scheme, 607 home loans have been approved and 426 loans have been pre-approved awaiting finance.

“The State and Federal Governments are working together to deliver a suite of housing commitments, including a $500million Housing Affordability Fund.

“We also want the make the job easier for developers and builders by creating a Building Commission to streamline the approvals process.”

Mrs Roberts commended the Master Builders Association for rewarding business that aimed for excellence in home living.

“The high calibre of the award winners this year shows just how innovative WA builders are and the quality of workmanship that exists in this State,” she said.
