Housing and Works Minister Michelle Roberts has today announced the sale of the first six of 187 homes to be sold under the South Hedland New Living project.

“The New Living project is the largest urban renewal initiative in Western Australia,” Mrs Roberts said.

“A total of 480 properties are being refurbished under the New Living project, with 293 properties being retained by the Department of Housing and Works for public housing stock.

“New Living also increases housing supply and provides new opportunities for affordable home ownership.”

Central-Kimberley Pilbara MLA Tom Stephens said the Town of Port Hedland and the State Government would spend more than $50million over five years to improve buildings and amenities in South Hedland.

“To revitalise South Hedland and make it a sustainable community, we must provide quality local housing so that workers, particularly those in the mining industry, choose to live here,” Mr Stephens said.

“The State Government, through the Department of Housing and Works, is committed to improving housing in regional WA.”

The six properties for sale are priced from $350,000 to $415,000 and will be sold by public ballot.  Potential buyers should contact Peter Dunning at Ray White,

    Port Hedland on (08) 9140 2300.
