Industry and Enterprise Minister Francis Logan has welcomed the Federal Government’s independent review into the status of telecommunications in Western Australia.
The Regional Telecommunications Independent Review, officially launched in Perth yesterday, will assess telecommunications services in regional, rural and remote parts of Australia.
“The review committee was established to help identify rural regions with the biggest telecommunications deficiencies, areas with the greatest need for telephone and broadband services,” Mr Logan said.
“With WA’s vast land base and widely dispersed communities, we are a prime example of the isolation people can experience and the danger that can be faced without a form of reliable communication.
“WA has a lot to gain from this review, so I encourage Western Australians to participate and provide feedback about the telecommunications services in their area.
“This feedback will go a long way to identifying opportunities to improve the telecommunications insufficiencies our regional, rural and remote regions experience.”
