A person in custody who was being transported from Laverton to Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison has died.
The 46-year-old male reportedly collapsed while in transit yesterday. He was taken to Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital where he later died.
The cause of death is yet to be established. Police are investigating.
“Any death in custody is a tragedy and will be thoroughly investigated,” Corrective Services Minister Margaret Quirk.said today.
“Full details will be released when investigations are concluded.”
