    Launch of the Kimberley Business Capability and Services Register

    9/11/2007 12:10 PM

    Kimberley Minister Jon Ford has announced the official launch of the Kimberley Business Capability and Services Register, which is an online Kimberley business register.

    “This initiative will provide opportunities for companies and contractors working within the Kimberley region to search for local suppliers of goods and services that will meet their needs,” Mr Ford said.

    “The Kimberley region is progressively becoming the centre of a number of significant developments, which have the potential to substantially impact upon the regional economy.”

    These include:
    • oil and gas industry exploration and production in the Browse Basin;
    • onshore and offshore resource development; and
    • steady growth in the construction industry.
    “These developments will provide significant opportunities for regional businesses to service major industry projects,” the Minister said.

    “I encourage investors in the resource and development sectors to support the Kimberley economy by contracting local suppliers and service providers where possible.

    “I believe this initiative will provide benefits to industry as well as local communities.”

    Companies planning to develop the offshore resources of the Kimberley have also supported this initiative.

    The official launches of the Kimberley Business Capability and Services Register were held in Derby and Broome this week and were supported by the local Chambers of Commerce.
