    The best of the West contest national business prize

    Small Business Minister Margaret Quirk offered congratulations and good luck to the five Western Australian small businesses competing for glory in the National Telstra Business Awards.

    “Not only am I impressed with the calibre of those businesses who have won our State awards, I am very impressed with the fact that four out of the five are from regional Western Australia,” Ms Quirk said.

    “Small business is vital to WA, both economically and socially, and awards such as these are a way of formally highlighting that contribution.

    “As well as rewarding good business practices and successful business planning, these awards acknowledge the vital contribution made by small businesses to the social and economic well-being of WA.”

    Category for 6-20 employees

    Market Creations, Geraldton

    Category for 21-50 employees
    Paul and Elizabeth Newbound,
    Australian Pressure Testing Services, Henderson

    Category for 51-100 employees
    Paul Hurley,
    AVKO Mining, Kalgoorlie

    Innovation Award
    Angela Whittington,
    Imaging the South, Bunbury

    The national awards will be held in Sydney this Friday.
