    Positive Image Award nominations open

    29/08/2007 10:43 AM

Youth Minister Ljiljanna Ravlich today officially opened the nomination period for the 2007 Positive Image Award.

Ms Ravlich encouraged teachers and students at high schools around the State to nominate a young person from their school for the award.

“The Positive Image Award was developed to recognise the thousands of students in Western Australia who promote a more positive image of young people within schools and the wider community,” she said.

“The award is not designed to reward academic or sporting excellence, but focuses on the quiet achievers working within their communities, and provides an opportunity to recognise these contributions.”

The award was developed in 1998 to tackle the growing negative perceptions of youth in the media and adult community.

Since the award was implemented 10 years ago, hundreds of nominations have been received from government, private and independent secondary schools throughout WA.

From the nominations received, 29 District Ambassadors will be selected to travel to Perth from all around the State to take part in a ‘Special Reward Day’ on Friday December 7. This day provides an opportunity for the State’s most outstanding students to meet, mingle and be rewarded for their efforts.

Nominations for the 2007 Positive Image Award close on Friday September 24, 2007.
