Pilbara organisations seeking support through the Western Australian Government’s $20million Pilbara Fund have until the end of July 2007 to submit their applications.

Pilbara Minister Jon Ford said that up to $5million would be available in the latest round of funding to support economic and social development in the Pilbara.

“The Pilbara Fund will assist regional organisations to seize opportunities presented by growth and address the challenge of meeting the community’s need for improved services and facilities,” Mr Ford said.

“It will support projects in the key areas of health, education, community safety, childcare and recreation and culture.

“Local governments, community and indigenous organisations, government agencies and business groups are all eligible to apply for support of up to $1.5million.”

All applications will be assessed by the steering committee and its recommendations will be submitted through the Pilbara Development Commission Board to the State Cabinet’s Regional Development Committee for approval.

Applications are now open and close on July 27.

Application forms are available from the Pilbara Development Commission’s website at
