The Town of Vincent boundary will be extended following Local Government Minister John Bowler’s support of recommendations by the Local Government Advisory Board.

Areas which will transfer to the Town of Vincent are:
    • part of Glendalough, currently in the City of Stirling, east of the Mitchell Freeway, bounded by the Mitchell Freeway, Powis Street, Brady Street, Scarborough Beach Road and the Freeway; and
    • the areas currently in the City of Perth, bounded by Loftus, Newcastle, Lindsay, Little Parry, Parry, Lord and Summers Streets, the Swan River and the Graham Farmer Freeway.
“The transfer of these areas to the Town of Vincent will remove any confusion by residents about which local government administers their district,” Mr Bowler said.

The Minister also accepted the board’s recommendation to reject the submission of the City of Perth which sought the transfer of land in the Town of Vincent to its local government areas.

“I commend all those involved in the consultative process including the Local Government Advisory Board, and thank the participants involved for their active interest in their community,” Mr Bowler said.

The boundary changes would be effective from July 1, 2007.
