Small Business Minister Norm Marlborough has congratulated the Perth-based small business, Simulus, on its success at the national Telstra Business Awards.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Simulus, which has come out on top of more than 4,500 nominations for this year’s awards,” Mr Marlborough said.

“The current boom has small business in Western Australia riding a wave of confidence and as a result the State was well represented among the extremely high standard of entries.”

Simulus started in 2001 as a specialist provider of process simulation for the minerals and logistics industries.

This year, general manager Jason Stirbinskis and his team won the Telstra Business Award for the business with between five and 20 employees.

“The young, dynamic team at Simulus is an inspiration to the WA small business community and to the State,” Mr Marlborough said.

“Simulus is a clear example of the significant role that small business plays in WA’s booming resources industry.”

The Telstra Business Awards national final included three other finalists from WA: Matchpoint Consulting, Bell Fire Equipment Company and National Lifestyle Villages.

“This recognition of outstanding performance highlights the contributions being made by all small businesses to the economic and social success of Australia,” the Minister said.

“WA small businesses continue to lead the nation in sales growth and business confidence, reflecting the State Government’s good management of the economic boom.”

The Western Australian Regional Small Business Awards will be held in Perth on Friday November 3 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.
