Community members from all walks of life are being encouraged by the State Government to become engaged in re-igniting ‘WA Week’.

Citizenship Minister Tony McRae said ‘WA Week’ aimed to celebrate the many benefits of living in such a fantastic place.

The State Government has funded Celebrate WA to organise the festival in partnership with the vibrant community groups, associations, businesses and events this great State offers.

“The community forums on August 14 and 15 will get the ball rolling for the week-long celebration of WA, its people and its regions,” Mr McRae said.

“WA week had been a feature of the community calendar for more than 20 years up until 1996 - and now it is back!

“I am very pleased the Celebrate WA organisers are using State Government funding to spark this program of celebrations.”

Community-based planning will lead up to the new ‘WA Week’ events in October next year.

The State Government has approved a small grants program through Celebrate WA for community organisations to be a part of WA Week 2007.
