Small Business Minister Norm Marlborough will today open the 14th annual Business Opportunities Expo at the Burswood Convention Centre.
The expo features more than 100 businesses, an extensive range of small business investment opportunities as well as free, half-hour information seminars on all aspects of running a business.
“Small business is the life blood of Western Australia’s robust economy and events such as this, which support and encourage small business, are important for the continued success of the sector,” Mr Marlborough said.
“Small business makes up 97 per cent of all businesses in WA and is a major player in the State’s booming economy.”
The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) is a major exhibitor and will be showcasing its range of services and networks including an online small business workshop titled ‘An Introduction to Business Planning’ - the first in a series of three.
“According to the SBDC, 71 per cent of small businesses in WA are using computers and 62 per cent have access to the Internet, so online services are the most efficient means of communicating with the sector,” the Minister explained.
“This workshop is easy to follow and tailor-made for the small business operator.”
The workshop is available online or via CD-Rom, from the SBDC.
The expo is open from 10am to 4pm on Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25.
