A range of grants have been awarded to deliver events and activities across the length and breadth of Western Australia during this year's National Youth Week WA celebrations.

Youth Minister Paul Miles today announced 65 local governments and community organisations would receive funding for events that celebrated the positive contributions of young people to local communities.

"National Youth Week is the single biggest annual celebration of young people in Australia and a major event on the WA youth calendar," Mr Miles said.

"It is a chance for young West Australians to showcase their creativity, demonstrate their leadership skills and to have some fun.

"Funding has also been granted to events that raise important issues of concern to young people and explore solutions.

"I am delighted that the Liberal National Government has been able to once again lend its support to these events."

Among this year's events will be a Junior Masterchef workshop in Bencubbin, a hackathon at The University of Western Australia, and a Zorb and Zen Day in the Shire of Cranbrook.

"The sheer diversity of the projects, from sport and art to mental health and social support, is a wonderful testament to the range of skills and interests shown by young people," the Minister said.

This year, the National Youth Week WA opening event will be held in the City of Greater Geraldton with a Youth Week festival and concert on the foreshore on April 1.
