I spoke with Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi and Deputy Premier Liza Harvey last night, and the decision to cancel the Australia Day fireworks following this tragedy was the right thing to do.

I was at the WA Police Maylands Incident Control Centre last night and saw the swift and professional response of our emergency services to deal with the significant incident.
West Australians should be proud and confident that in emergency incidents, the men and women in our emergency service immediately engage and work together to respond and keep the community safe.
