Michael Hollett to lead Water Corporation board from January 1, 2017
Current board member David Lock appointed deputy chairman
Water Minister Mia Davies has welcomed Michael Hollett as the new chairman of the Water Corporation board.
Ms Davies said she was pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Hollett who has served on the Water Corporation board for the past five years.
"Mr Hollett brings a wealth of experience to the position and his proven record in water sensitive urban design adds tremendous value to this role," she said.
A qualified hydrographer, Mr Hollett began his career working for the Water Corporation before moving into property development in the private sector. He is the director of Ocean Gardens Retirement Village and H&H Development Enterprises, a former chief executive officer of the National Lifestyle Village Group and is also a former chairman of the Pilbara Development Commission.
Current board member David Lock has been appointed as deputy chairman.
"I look forward to working with Mr Hollett and Mr Lock as they bring their wide ranging experiences and skills to their new roles," the Minister said.
Ms Davies thanked outgoing chairwoman Eva Skira, who finishes her term at the end of December after five years.
"Under the leadership and vision of Ms Skira, the Water Corporation has continued to deliver a safe and reliable water service to more than two million West Australians, and she leaves the utility in a very strong position," she said.
Mr Hollett will take over as chairman of the board from January 1, 2017. An additional board member will be appointed in the near future.
The board, in consultation with management, develops the corporation's strategic direction for the immediate and long-term future
Board members are appointed by the Governor of Western Australia, on the nomination of the Minister for Water
The Board of Directors also includes David Rowe, Nicole Lockwood, Ross Holt and Sue Murphy (chief executive officer)
