- Mid-West organisations share in $119,848 in grants
- Community projects funded by $10 million investment over four years
- Made possible by the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program
Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today announced five recipients of the Mid-West region's Community Chest Fund Round 4, made possible by the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program.
Mr Redman said the fund provided one-off grants of up to $50,000 to community groups, local governments and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.
"The fund supports region-specific priorities driven by local communities to develop infrastructure, services and community projects that helped build vibrant regions," he said.
"Included in this round of funding is $50,000 for the Shire of Mount Magnet to undertake the first steps to implement a geotourism initiative across the Murchison and $22,991 for the Shire of Northampton to redevelop Lions Park, which was recently destroyed by fire
"These projects will help attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Mid-West region.
"Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years."
WA's nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the Community Chest Fund grants.
The State Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 million into the fund over the next four years.
