    • $99.4 million revitalisation project underway to create new foreshore destinations
    • One of Perth's favourite beaches is getting a refresh

Planning Minister Donna Faragher today inspected Sunset Hill, the first new foreshore destination at Scarborough Beach due to open in early 2017.

"The Liberal National Government, together with the City of Stirling, is delivering a $100 million refresh of Scarborough Beach to create new spaces for families and visitors to enjoy," Mrs Faragher said.

"Sunset Hill looks spectacular and is just a start of what is to come, with construction expected to start later this year on new promenades, a skate park, playground, beach facilities and a new surf club premises."

The Minister said there would be changes to beach access and parking while construction was underway and visitors should plan their journey before heading to Scarborough Beach.

"A construction zone is in place ready for contractors to move onsite next month and as a result, there are a number of access changes affecting motorists, pedestrians and cyclists visiting Scarborough Beach," she said.

"With the weather expected to warm up this weekend and summer on its way, we are urging all visitors to log onto http://www.visitscarborough.com.au and plan ahead."

The State Government is working closely with local businesses to ensure visitors continue to have a great experience at the beachfront while works are underway.

"Scarborough is a popular destination with locals and tourists and can be easily accessed by public transport, with the high-frequency 990 'super bus' route delivering passengers from the city centre right to the beachfront," the Minister said

"With a range of cafes, restaurants and shops ready to welcome customers, and a number of sponsored events confirmed, Scarborough will remain a hub of vibrant activity this summer."
