With summer around the corner, the Liberal National Government, through the Water Corporation, has partnered with South Metropolitan TAFE to deliver six free waterwise irrigation workshops across Perth.
More than 40 per cent of household water use occurs outside the home and Water Minister Mia Davies today encouraged the community to take part in the workshops.
"These workshops provide the community with a great opportunity to learn how to effectively irrigate their gardens and lawn," Ms Davies said.
"Water use peaks as the weather heats up, so it is important irrigation systems are programmed to ensure every drop of water used is effective."
Free irrigation workshops will be held on:
- Saturday, October 22 at The Watershed Water Systems, Jandakot
- Saturday, October 29 at The Watershed Water Systems, Joondalup
- Saturday, November 5 at The Watershed Water Systems, Midland
- Saturday, November 12 at The Watershed Water Systems, Morley
- Saturday, November 19 at The Retic and Landscape Shop, Southern River
- Saturday, November 26 at Total Eden Watering Systems, Mandurah.
The workshops will educate participants about choosing the right irrigation systems, efficient irrigation of lawns and gardens, subsurface watering, and how to use your irrigation controller.

The Minister said working with the community to reduce water use formed part of the Water Corporation's long-term Water Forever plans to secure water supplies in the drying climate.
"We all have a responsibility to use water wisely and I encourage the community to take part in this great program and help save water," Ms Davies said.
