Transport Minister Dean Nalder today announced work had started on a $12 million project to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersections of Marmion and Hepburn avenues and Marmion and Whitfords avenues in Perth's northern suburbs.
"This Liberal National Government project will provide additional and extended turning pockets that will reduce delays and driver frustration in peak periods," Mr Nalder said.
"The upgrades will also improve safety at these intersections, where many accidents have occurred over the years.
"Western Power began a comprehensive program of works at both intersections in July 2016 to transfer power services underground and relocate street lighting.
"These preliminary works are expected to be completed in November when road construction starts. The project is due for completion in June 2017."
Traffic signals will be upgraded and CCTV cameras installed to improve traffic flow and real-time intervention.
"Improvements will also be made to pedestrian and cycling facilities, which will ensure increased safety at these busy intersections," the Minister said.
