Regional Development Minister Terry Redman has announced the successful grant recipients under the Regional Grants Scheme to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the Great Southern region.
The Regional Grants Scheme is an initiative of the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program for community, public and not-for-profit organisations.
Mr Redman said the State Government would invest $10 million in the scheme in 2016-17, offering grants between $50,001 and $300,000.
"The scheme also helps smaller, community-driven projects that make a real difference in the regions," he said.
"This round of grants will provide $1,536,666 towards 13 projects for the Great Southern region, including $150,000 for the Shire of Kent to redevelop the Pingrup Community and Sporting Pavilion.
"It also includes $65,000 for the Denmark Sea Rescue Group to purchase a new rescue boat.
"In addition to the Regional Grants Scheme, Royalties for Regions has made some major investments in the Great Southern region, such as the Katanning Early Childhood Hub, Simon Baker's feature film Breath and affordable student accommodation in Albany."
The Regional Grants Scheme is a Royalties for Regions fund that aims to improve economic and community infrastructure and services in regional WA
The State Government's Royalties for Regions program has allocated $6.9 billion into more than 3,700 projects across regional WA since 2008
