Activ Foundation Inc. receives $464,421 Lotterywest grant
Grant will replace and upgrade critical IT infrastructure
A Liberal National Government grant, through Lotterywest, for $464,421 will enable Western Australia's biggest disability service provider to ensure the delivery of a wide range of services to people with disability.
Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher said the Activ Foundation would use the Lotterywest funds to upgrade computer equipment at its disaster recovery site.
"The Activ Foundation provides individualised and family support services to people living with disability in both metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia, and it is vital that they maintain business continuity," Mrs Faragher said.
"The Lotterywest grant will allow Activ to purchase new computer equipment and enhance its IT backup data network to create a stronger, continuous business system which will benefit its many clients across the State."
Presenting the grant to Activ at its Wembley headquarters, the Minister said people with disability who used Activ's services would now have even greater confidence in its service delivery.
"By upgrading its IT systems, Activ will now be able to provide uninterrupted services even if there is a major event like a power failure, fire or flood," she said.
"All IT systems and data will be backed up with the new equipment located at Activ's Wembley headquarters to its site premises.
"Within 24 hours of any event, Activ will have the capability to restore key services and continue to support its clients and their families."
In 2015-16, the Liberal National Government provided $47.4 million through the Disability Services Commission to Activ, to provide individualised and family support to 1,877 clients.
Activ Foundation has supported people with disability, their families and carers in Western Australia since 1951.
