Regional Development Minister Terry Redman today announced the successful grant recipients of the Goldfields-Esperance region's Community Chest Fund, made possible by the Liberal National Government's Royalties for Regions program.

Mr Redman said the Community Chest Fund provided one-off grants to community, public and not-for-profit organisations to improve and develop infrastructure and services in the region.

"The Community Chest Fund provides voluntary organisations, educational institutions and community organisations with grants of up to $50,000 to support local projects," he said.

"Included in this round of funding is $45,900 to the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation to fund their Leeuwin Young Leadership project helping young people to develop life-skills and improve confidence; and $20,000 to Kalgoorlie Central Playgroup to fund a new nature play area.

"The Eastern Goldfields Cycle Club Inc. have been granted $20,000 towards the 2017 Goldfields Cyclassic, a unique cycling event from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Leonora; and the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku will receive $18,237 to update training resources for Working in Early Childhood workshops and courses."

The fund supports region-specific priorities that are driven by local communities to assist the development of infrastructure, services and community projects that help build vibrant regions with strong economies.

"These projects will help to attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life for communities in the Goldfields-Esperance region," the Minister said.

"Hundreds of diverse projects and organisations across regional Western Australia have significantly benefited from the Community Chest Fund in recent years."

Western Australia's nine regional development commissions oversee the projects, each being allocated an equal share from which to provide the Community Chest Fund grants.

The Liberal National Government, through the Royalties for Regions program, has invested $10 million into the Community Chest Fund over the next four years.
