    • About 1.6km of wastewater pipe to be refurbished in Guildford
    • $1.3 million project to extend the life of the pipes by at least 50 years
    • Trenchless technology used where possible to reduce impact on community

The Water Corporation will soon begin work to refurbish wastewater pipes in Guildford to extend the life of the important infrastructure by at least 50 years.

Water Minister Mia Davies said the $1.3 million Liberal National Government project formed part of an ongoing program to reline and refurbish wastewater pipes across the State.

"About 1.6 kilometres of wastewater pipes along Meadow, Victoria and Swan streets will be refurbished over the next two months," Ms Davies said.

The Minister said the corporation used trenchless technology to reline wastewater pipes where possible.  This technology avoided the need for extensive excavation to access the wastewater pipes, which kept disruption to the community and road users to a minimum.

"Residents may notice an increase in activity along the pipeline route, however traffic management will be in place at all times and disruption will be kept to a minimum," she said.

"I want to thank the residents in advance for their patience while the corporation carries out this work."

The corporation will work closely with local residents to keep them informed before work begins in their area.
