    • Lotterywest grant of $1.608 million to refurbish Identitywa's new head office
    • Corporate base in Northbridge to accommodate future growth

A $1.608 million Lotterywest grant will fund the refurbishment of disability agency Identitywa's new head office building in Northbridge and enhance its capacity to support people with disability, their families and carers.

Disability Services Minister Donna Faragher said Identitywa - formerly Catholic Care - was one of the State's longest serving and largest providers of services to people with disability.

"Identitywa has a long history of supporting people with disability and their families in WA," Mrs Faragher said.

"Demand for its services has grown significantly over the past five years and Identitywa now supports more than 450 individuals and families.

"Their success in providing quality support to people with disability and working in partnership to ensure people live with a sense of purpose, belonging and wellbeing has led to a steady increase in demand.  This means they have outgrown their current premises and need room to expand."

The Minister said the Lotterywest grant would allow Identitywa to refurbish heritage-listed buildings in the Catholic Archdiocese-owned old St Brigid's School in Northbridge.

"The new corporate base in Northbridge is close to public transport and provides a central location with great access for the people Identitywa supports, as well as their families and carers," she said.

"The refurbishment of the heritage-listed property will create office space, meeting rooms and a fully accessible large area will be adapted to provide a state-of-the-art training facility."

Identitywa's move from Kensington to Northbridge is expected to be completed by December 2016.  It follows the opening of a Cockburn regional hub in April and Identitywa has future plans to open a north metropolitan hub.
