Morley Senior High School student awarded $3,000 aviation scholarship
Annual scholarship awarded to most deserving aviation student in a WA public school and contributes to their flying training
A Morley Senior High School student's dream of becoming a professional pilot came a step closer today after he was awarded a prestigious scholarship.
Education Minister Peter Collier announced Year 12 student Dakota Colborne as the recipient of the Minister for Education's Aviation Scholarship awarded for his academic achievement, motivation and commitment to aviation.
Dakota started Morley Senior High School's Approved Specialist Program in Aviation when he was in Year 7 and completed his first solo flight through the Air Force cadets last year.
"Dakota has worked very hard under the guidance of the school's aviation teacher who is a qualified commercial pilot with an instructor's rating," Mr Collier said.
"He is a deserving recipient and the latest of several Morley Senior High School students from past years to receive the scholarship."
Former scholarship recipients from Morley have gone on to carve out successful careers in the aviation industry.
