    • $1.2 million project complete at Two Rocks Marina
    • Car park upgraded, boat ramp widened and new central floating jetty
    • Extra pontoon to be built, helping operation of the facility

Boat launching capacity at Two Rocks Marina has been doubled with the completion of an upgrade funded by the State Government.

Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the $1.2 million staged project, completed on time and under budget.

"Additional to the stage one and stage two works, a new 18-metre boat pontoon will be built 75m north of the expanded boat ramp allowing better and safer access to and from boats at peak times," Mr Nalder said.

Stage one works, completed last July, more than doubled the parking area resulting in a significant increase in marked bays from 38 to 99 and introduced traffic management measures to facilitate queuing and ease congestion.

Stage two, partly funded by the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme (RBFS), saw the boat ramp widened to two distinct lanes, installation of a central 50m floating jetty, realignment of the revetment wall, new access paths, solar lighting and signage upgrades.

The Minister said careful consideration of the works program had helped maintain access to the facility for the duration of the construction period.

"The patience of users during construction is now rewarded with this wonderful, much improved facility," he said.

"Completion of the extra pontoon will further enhance the operations of the local volunteer marine rescue group, which has experienced difficulties using the existing outdated jetty.  The jetty will be demolished after the installation of the new pontoon, which is expected in May 2016.

"I commend Wanneroo MLA Paul Miles and North Metropolitan Region MLC Peter Katsambanis who have been strong and vocal advocates for these works on behalf of the Two Rocks community."
