The State Government has awarded a contract to conduct improvements to four bridges in the Kimberley region.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder today announced Kimbuild Contracting Pty Ltd had been awarded a $1.55 million contract for roadworks and bridgeworks at several locations along the Great Northern Highway, between Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.
The work will involve specific maintenance on the following bridges on Great Northern Highway:
- No. 1165 located over Pinnacle Creek will be built with a reinforced concrete overlay and approach slabs
- No. 1159 located over Mosquito Creek
- No. 1172 located over Landrigan Creek
- No. 1199 located over Berrangi Creek.
"The work will improve the lifespan of the bridges and significantly reduce future maintenance costs," Mr Nalder said.
"The contract, scheduled to start next month and expected to be completed by July 2016, will be managed by Main Roads Western Australia Kimberley Region."
An average of 349 vehicles per day use this section of Great Northern Highway (27.6% heavy vehicles)
Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works, with minimal impact on the travelling public
