Western Australian construction company Densford Civil Pty Ltd will start work to restore the bridge over the South Avon River in the Shire of Brookton.
Transport Minister Dean Nalder today announced the contract for the refurbishment of the ageing bridge, to cost $1.3 million, would also support 15 jobs.
"The work will involve demolishing the existing overlay and constructing a new reinforced concrete deck and approach slabs, as well as substructure repairs and preventative maintenance," Mr Nalder said.
"The upgrades will increase community safety and the overall lifespan of the structure, allowing the heavy haulage industry to continue using this important freight route in the Wheatbelt region."
The works will be managed by Main Roads' Wheatbelt Region with completion expected by June 2016.
