    • $25 million apartment development near Midland train station and new hospital
    • Proposed five-storey complex will include 78 residential apartments
    • Town planning process already under way
    • Completion by mid-2018; will support at least 80 construction jobs

An exciting new five-storey development just a stone's throw from Midland train station will provide much needed housing in Woodbridge.

Housing Minister Colin Holt said the planned 78-unit development would provide social, shared equity and full market value housing in a high-priority region.

"The Housing Authority will retain five units in the development for seniors or people living with disability on the social housing waiting list," Mr Holt said.

"These units will be specially designed to ensure they are accessible for people with diverse needs.

"At least 12 apartments will be sold to individuals and families on low-to-moderate incomes through the Liberal National Government's Shared Home Ownership program."

The State Government will partner with Perth property developer Psaros to deliver the complex at 15 Yelverton Drive, Woodbridge.  Construction is to support at least 80 jobs.

The Housing Authority acquired the land from the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) and, subject to relevant statutory and regulatory approvals, construction is scheduled for completion by mid-2018.

The Minister said the estimated $25 million project, located within the MRA's redevelopment precinct for Midland, would benefit the local community, while respecting the heritage character of the area.

"This contemporary development will allow more people to live close to facilities and transport infrastructure, while enhancing the local community and economy," he said.

"A range of employment options are available nearby, such as the Midland Gate Shopping Centre, local industrial areas and the St John of God Midland Public Hospital.

"The Woodbridge project is another example of the Government working with the private sector to deliver its Aiming Higher action plan target of 30,000 affordable homes by 2020."
