- Second missing Disability Justice Centre resident returned
The second of two male residents who absconded from the Bennett Brook Disability Justice Centre on December 31, 2015, returned to the centre in the company of his parents about 4.30pm yesterday.
Disability Services Minister Helen Morton acknowledged the assistance of the man's family in returning him to the centre and in his ongoing preparation for independent living and re-integration into the community.
"This particular resident's parents are his designated supervisors when he is away from the centre on authorised leave," Mrs Morton said.
"While I continue to acknowledge the concerns of the local community, I reiterate that no resident at the centre is deemed to pose a risk to the public."
The Minister said immediate measures had been taken to make the centre more secure, including additional staff, closer supervision, lock downs where deemed necessary and altering the perimeter fence.
