Education Minister Peter Collier today pledged the State Government's financial support for families affected by the recent bushfire, offering to cover the costs of their children's return to public schools.
Mr Collier said having to deal with expenses such as school uniforms, books and stationery was another burden the families simply did not need.
"This has been a dreadful time and we will cover these costs not just for families from Yarloop, but any South-West family affected by the fire," he said.
"Parents should contact their schools to discuss these arrangements."
The Minister said decisions about Yarloop Primary School's future would be made once safety concerns in the town had been addressed.
"Many people assumed the school had been lost along with so much of the town, but thankfully classroom buildings remain intact," Mr Collier said.
"It will be a priority to address all issues affecting the town of Yarloop - we will not compromise on student and staff safety."
The State Government last week decided to relocate Yarloop Primary School to Harvey Primary School for the beginning of term.
