- Fashion Council WA's Swim + Resort Series hits Fremantle
- Features renowned Australian fashion label, CAMILLA
- Supported by the State Government through Tourism WA
Fremantle is set to sizzle this afternoon when the Fashion Council WA's Swim + Resort Series hits Bathers Beach.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said it was the second year that Fashion Council WA was holding the stand-alone event to highlight some of Western Australia's best independent swim and resort designers alongside renowned Australian label CAMILLA.
Dr Hames said the State Government, through Tourism WA, was proud to support the Swim + Resort Series 2015.
"This type of fashion event sets the stage for promoting Western Australia's beautiful beaches and laidback lifestyle," he said.
"It is the second year Fashion Council WA has presented this event and this year's instalment promises to be spectacular.''
The Minister said the event also provided a great platform to promote Fremantle, which was last month named a 'must see' destination for 2016 by one of the world's most respected international travel publishers, Lonely Planet.
"Fremantle is number seven on the Lonely Planet's 'Top 10 Cities' to visit in 2016, and it can only get better with more than $1.3 billion of private and public investment in the pipeline," he said.
"New hotels, bars and restaurants are adding to Fremantle's appeal for visitors and locals so it's no wonder the experts at Lonely Planet think the port city should be on everyone's travel list for 2016."
Dr Hames said the State Government had a strategy to increase the value of tourism from the current $8.7 billion to $12 billion by 2020.
"Supporting events such as the Fashion Council WA's Swim + Resort Series will help us achieve that goal, as events not only add vibrancy to WA, they also attract visitors and raise the profile of WA through media exposure," the Minister said.
