The State Government will deliver on an election promise to invest $3million on a new community sports pavilion in the Shire of Dardanup.
The Eaton Oval pavilion will be replaced by a new community sports pavilion to accompany the already re-surfaced grounds.
“The existing facility is past its useful life and no longer services the needs of the local community,” Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said.
“The new pavilion will be a fantastic home for the Eaton Boomers Football Club and the local cricket club.”
The pavilion will comprise change rooms, a kitchen, sports storage and a meeting room/social space.
Mr Waldron said new facilities such as this were important not only to encourage children and adults to be more active, but also to foster a greater sense of community.
“Sport and recreation facilities which fulfil local needs are vital to creating healthy communities by bringing people together not only to be active but to be social,” he said.
“The Government is committed to supporting the community through funding important projects which benefit the health and well-being of West Australians.”
