- Opportunities for the development of town centre residential apartments, medical services, restaurants, offices and entertainment
The next phase of South Hedland’s development is about to begin as the State Government continues to deliver its Pilbara Cities vision for the town.
Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said developers were now being asked to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a suite of new commercial, retail and residential construction opportunities in the revitalised town centre of South Hedland.
LandCorp has overseen extensive upgrades to the South Hedland town centre in recent years in line with the State Government’s major commitment to support the town’s rapid population growth.
Now seven town centre zoned lots located in the health services and residential precinct and the Northern Commercial Gateway will provide an opportunity for proponents to create landmark developments. The lots range in size from 3,505sqm to 1.21ha.
Possible developments include medical consulting rooms, childcare facilities, aged care, commercial offices, high density housing, hotels, restaurants and retail outlets.
Mr Grylls said the work had focused on the realignment of roads and services and the upgrading of parks and drainage.
“We now have the opportunity to engage developers with visionary and innovative design skills to help create a dynamic and vibrant town centre,” he said.
“These developments will support the new regional hospital, generate new small business opportunities and stimulate the local economy.”
EOI close 2pm (WST) on Thursday, November 28, 2013 with the preferred proponent(s) expected to be announced by the end of the year.
