    • Significant investment in Perth’s southern suburbs
    • Upgrade caters for growing population in the area
    • Works completed on time and on budget

A multi-million dollar upgrade to Warnbro’s bus interchange is now complete, with three new bus routes able to use the facility from this week.

Transport Minister Troy Buswell said the $4.5million upgrade would cater to future demand for public transport in the area.

“We know that the size of the community around Warnbro is growing, and this strategic project will allow us to operate more buses in the area as demand increases,” Mr Buswell said.

The interchange features seven bus stands and four layover bays under a continuous canopy, to shelter passengers from the weather.

The Minister said the upgrade was an important part of the State Government’s strategy to provide world-class public transport for West Australians.

“On an average weekday, Warnbro train station has about 2,900 boardings - more than a third of whom arrive by bus. This project means it will now be even easier for those passengers to access public transport,” he said.

Mr Buswell said the new bus route 567 between Warnbro station and Baldivis East had already started using the facility.

Additionally, selected routes from Warnbro and Port Kennedy will be split into two further routes to offer a more efficient service to commuters.

“These new routes are further confirmation that this Government is working to meet the public transport needs of this area, and increasing our services to meet public expectations,” he said.
