- 60 new jobs created at Henderson operation
Commerce Minister Simon O’Brien today welcomed the news that two Western Australian companies had been awarded resource-based contracts.
“This is a great result for Western Australian workers, again demonstrating that there are opportunities from resource projects,” Mr O’Brien said.
Yesterday, Monadelphous announced it had secured a $150million contract with Woodside Energy Limited at the Karratha Gas Plant in the Pilbara. The contract involves the provision of maintenance and shutdown services and is expected to run for three years.
Local manufacturer AGC also received good news, winning work with Subsea 7 Australia to produce subsea spools for the Gorgon Project.
The contract, worth tens of millions of dollars, will result in 60 new jobs at the company’s Henderson yard.
“These contracts add to more than $25billion in contracts that have gone to local companies from resource projects since July 2011,” the Minister said.
