- Community grants of $1,000 to go towards Seniors Week Festival
- Grant applications close on Friday August 10, 2012
Seniors and Volunteering Minister Robyn McSweeney has announced $47,000 in Lotterywest funding to help local communities celebrate Seniors Week in November.
Mrs McSweeney presented the Lotterywest cheque to Council on the Ageing WA’s chief executive Ken Marston, whose organisation is charged with administering the Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival community grants program.
“I hope these grants encourage community groups and local governments to hold events during the festival to recognise seniors for their contribution to community,” she said.
“Grants of up to $1,000 are available for events and I would encourage any organisation interested in getting involved to get their application in by this Friday’s deadline.”
Applications are sought from organisations planning events which benefit seniors who are at risk of becoming socially isolated, or are members of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Events are encouraged to focus on challenging the negative stereotypes around aging and promote positive and active aging.
Seniors Week runs from Sunday November 11 to Sunday November 18, 2012.
- Seniors Week is an annual celebration that includes the Seniors Awards
- Applications close Friday August 10, 2012
