Commerce Minister Simon O'Brien today opened EPM Pty Ltd’s $6million new premises, saying it was a great example of Western Australian businesses capitalising on the wealth of energy and resources work in this State.

Kewdale-based EPM is a locally owned engineering company manufacturing spare and replacement parts for the petro-chemical, gas supply, mining, sub-sea, industrial and agricultural sectors.  The company also undertakes the repair and pressure-testing of hydraulic modules.

Mr O'Brien said EPM's substantial investment in its business demonstrated the company’s confidence in the energy and resources services sector in WA and the opportunities open to innovative and market-orientated businesses.

“EPM serves as an example of what can be achieved through local innovation and expertise,” he said.

“This is the type of outcome the State Government was working towards when I launched the Local Industry Participation Framework in July 2011.

“The Government's commitment to ensure WA industry should be given full, fair and reasonable opportunity to supply to our mining and energy projects is based on our appreciation that local suppliers are capable of providing value for money solutions.”

The Minister said the Government would continue to work with the energy and resources industry to ensure local suppliers had a full, fair and reasonable opportunity to participate in the future development of the State’s economy.
